Cape Town: Western Tip of Africa
Day 1: pm Personal guide to meet you at Cape Town International Airport and drive you to your hotel on the Waterfront where you have reserved accommodation for the next four days. Discuss and confirm your travel plans for this leg of your holiday with your guide. For the remainder of the afternoon, you are at leisure. Dress casually for an evening's gourmet dining experience at one of the many restaurants on the Capetown waterfront. This is within easy walking distance.
Day 2: am This morning depart for Table Mountain and the cableway. Experience the magnificent view of Cape Town while having a full English breakfast outdoors at the restaurant on the top of Table Mountain. To settle your breakfast, take a walk along the top of the mountain, and enjoy the scenic beauty.
Day 2: pm Lunch at the waterfront prior to your departure on the ferry to Robben Island. You will be taken on a conducted tour of the ex political prison, now museum, where our Nobel laureate President Nelson Mandela was incarcerated for 27 years.
On your return from Robben Island, transfer to the departure jetty for your sunset cruise to Hout Bay. Enjoy a delicious dinner at the Fisherman's Wharf restaurant before your return by road to your Hotel.
Day 3: am Breakfast at your hotel and then depart for your Winelands trip where you will visit a number of wine estates, be taken on a conducted tour of their cellars, and finish off with a wine tasting session. At the last wine estate you will enjoy a lunch, be sure to order a bottle or two of your newly discovered wine to go with your lunch.
Day 3: pm You will return to your hotel fairly late in the afternoon so enjoy a peaceful break before dinner in your hotel, or take a stroll down to the Waterfront visit the oceanarium and choose one of the many restaurants for your evening meal.
Day 4: am After breakfast you will be out for the rest of the day travelling around the Cape Peninsula. Firstly down to the local fishing harbour at Fishhoek and on to Simons Town to spot the whales, enjoy a conducted tour of the naval base before breaking for tea at the Simon's Town waterfront, see the penguins at Boulders. You journey onwards to the Cape point nature reserve, take the funicular railway up to Cape Point lighthouse before lunching at the Ocean Basket restaurant.
Day 4: pm After lunch you will continue your journey to Hout Bay travelling over the spectacular Chapman's Peak drive. Take the harbour ferry to Seal Island and on the way you may be lucky enough to spot Southern right or Humpback whales frolicking in the bay. Still energetic? Visit the world of birds, before finally heading back to your hotel. This is your last night in Capetown so you decide whether you want to eat out at Panama Jacks famous for its spectacular seafood menu, situated in the main harbour area, or have dinner at your hotel.
Day 5: Your last chance to take an early morning helicopter flip over Capetown before your departure for Cape Town International Airport. |
